BANGLADESH

Bangladesh faces a critical need for innovative financing solutions to address water management challenges, particularly in the water-intensive textiles and apparel sector. The economy's heavy reliance on this industry and the industry's heavy reliance on rapidly-diminishing groundwater resources mean that there is an urgent need for water resilience solutions. Furthermore, forthcoming regulations in key export markets, including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, drive the need for more sustainable practices to ensure business continuity. More financing is needed to develop and implement the necessary interventions while ensuring business continuity across the sector. To make this happen, fostering effective partnerships between apparel brands, textiles manufacturers, and financial institutions is essential for developing solutions that combining expertise, resources, and innovation to tackle Bangladesh's complex water management issues.
